Hale named new director of Public Health Department

Jacksonville Daily Progress - 12/16/2017

Dec. 16--Allison Hale, Director of HOPE, has recently been appointed to be the new director of the Cherokee County Department of Public Health. This appointment was made in this week's meeting of the commissioner's court, where the vote to appoint Hale was unanimous.

"There was a lengthy and detailed process preceding this appointment and several worthy candidates were considered. I feel honored to have ultimately been given the opportunity to assume this new role and to continue to work with, and for, the good citizens of Cherokee County," Hale said.

The previous director of public health department, Christ Taylor, stepped down several months ago. Hale has been the director of HOPE for six years, and will assume her new position in January 2018 with the health department. She said that she and several other board members of HOPE will begin the search for a new director within the next week. She also added that HOPE and the public health department have worked together on a number of projects in the past, and she expects that relationship to continue.

"As I begin this new journey in my career, my hope is no different than it has always been, and that is to continue to have the opportunity to positively contribute to the initiatives that promote a healthy and sustainable community," Hale said.
